River Run Park, located near Pembroke Pines, FL, is a beautiful place to spend some time with your children. This blog post will give you some ideas for fun things that you can do while spending time in this great park.
Play Volleyball
This park has a great outdoor volleyball court that is available to the public. There are no fees or reservations required, so you can play whenever you like.
Go Swimming
River Run Park has an awesome pool and water slide! They have lifeguards on duty during open swim times, but there is also a kiddy pool area where children under 48″ tall will not need adult supervision (under 12 years old). If your child does not meet this height requirement they must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the big pools as well as their own kid’s section.
Walk the Trail
There is a paved trail through the park that takes you by some small waterfalls. It’s great for biking, strollers, rollerblading and scooters! Fishing Kayak Rental When it comes to fishing kayaks this park offers several options. You can bring your own or rent one of theirs for just $25 per day (weekend prices are more). They have sit-on-tops as well as tandems available so almost any group size will be accommodated. Rentals include life jackets, paddles and bail buckets if needed.
Play Frisbee Golf
There are several Frisbee golf areas set up throughout this park. You can play with or without clubs and discs, so it’s very family friendly! They provide the targets but do not offer any disc rental services. It is $25 per day to rent a basket (weekend prices are more).
Enjoy Food Truck Fridays
River Run hosts “Food Truck Friday” every week during good weather where you will find all kinds of tasty treats coming fresh off their trucks parked right in the middle of the park on SW 30th Road. This weekly event is popular for kids as well as adults, so be sure to check out their Facebook page each week before heading over there for that weekend since they don’t announce which trucks will be there until the last minute.
Bring a Picnic Lunch and Stay for Dinner!
River Run Park has an awesome picnic area with grills, tables, and places to play right next to their lakes where you can catch bass, bluegill, and catfish. During the summer months, they host live music as well as family-friendly movies on Friday nights at dusk (unless it rains). So grab your food from one of those delicious trucks mentioned above then sit back and enjoy some great entertainment while relaxing in this beautiful park that is just minutes away from Pines Boulevard down SW 147th Avenue.
